Peter Drucker, the renowned management consultant, once said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” The strategic planning model used by Great Lakes Training & Consulting provides organizations with a flexible, but consistent approach to preparing for the future. During the application of the model the organization will:

  • How to assess the current and desired (future) situations
  • How to determine the probability of the future situations
  • How to assess the impact of the future situations
  • How to develop long-term and near term goals
  • How to develop action plans to implement goals
  • How to develop a “balanced scorecard” of metrics to track goal accomplishment.

The preferred approach to this training is to use the organization’s situation and planning activities as the vehicle for learning. The above model and tools are applied in a hands-on, interactive approach using the organization’s actual data. This seminar does not substitute for an actual strategic planning session, but will prepare the organization for that activity and some products from the seminar will transfer directly to a strategic planning activity.

“I highly recommend this particular training session on how to develop a strategic plan to anyone who is about to begin developing a strategic plan. The no nonsense, straightforward approach that was presented to our group has already been productive in the creation of a succinct, comprehensive, and representative mission statement. Our training has helped us to develop a roadmap to sequentially develop the necessary components of a strategic plan representative of all our team members.”

This program can be accomplished in a one or two-day format. The two-day format will allow the organization to achieve a greater value from the training and greater transfer to a strategic planning activity.
